Main features
-
Ingest and process datasets captured with Leica CoastalMapper.
-
Global calibration repository is organized by the sensor system serial number.
-
Improved global elevation source handling and update based on ALOS World 3D dataset.
-
Undo / redo and curve editing by keyboard shortcuts in Image Adjustment tool.
-
Style of measurement cross in Triangulation perspective can be customized.
-
Point cloud ground classification includes more points close to the ground surface.
-
Lidar ingest is split by time into multiple jobs per strip.
Main fixes
-
GEM formatted geoid files may fail to apply for some product generation jobs, resulting in ellipsoid referenced outputs. Affected datums: German Combined Geoid (GCG2016v2023) and SWEREF99 Ref Year 2000 (7 Param+Vel).
-
Adding and measuring tie points in Measurement window is slower than previous versions before HxMap 4.8.
-
Mosaic tile cut cannot output tile GSD in same precision as ortho product generation GSD.
-
Radiometric tie point job count is inconsistent with oblique images included.
-
Blocktool utility creates incomplete HxMap Block files.
-
Moire filter tool always creates uncompressed output images.
-
3D Advanced product generation does not support spaces in the output path.
-
After local run of point cloud classification on a Project the point cloud can no longer be displayed in the Lidar Viewer.
-
Apply autostretch with radiometric profile shows incorrect image radiometry.
-
Colour samples in Image Index view do not update when radiometric profile is changed.
-
Last used setting of split scan direction in lidar matching is not remembered, its set to off by default.
-
Edit keyboard shortcut does not work in DEM Editor.
-
Locked captures in Regional Radiometry Editing can be modified
Upgrade Notes
-
The HxMap global calibration repository needs to be upgraded one time before using HxMap 5.0. Follow the upgrade procedure outlined Prepare system calibrations for HxMap 5.0 .
-
HxMap 5.0 is backwards compatible with data processed in HxMap 4.0 and newer versions. Review the guidelines for backwards compatibility Backwards compatibility in HxMap 5.0.
-
Sensor misalignment has been moved from sensor calibration files to the system calibration file. Calibration tools (Triangulation → Accept Triangulation Results and Quality Control → Run Lidar Calibration) create complete system calibration results. In case the tools are run in parallel, the misalignment values and sensor calibrations should be merged together in a single version.
-
Sensor system and FlightPro version compatibility has been updated, review the compatibility matrix Sensor system and FlightPro compatibility .
-
HxMap CCP Plus and Unlimited Processing entitlements must be updated for use with HxMap 5.0
-
HxMap GeoData has been separated into Coordinate Systems and Global Elevation GeoData .
-
Add Raw Session can now directly load sessions recorded with image or lidar sensors disabled. Its no longer required to modify the sensor description in session’s Flight Data.
-
Solar reflection noise filter is activated by default for all Hyperion sensor ingest. Filtered points are assigned Class 18 and available with Keep All Points option.
-
The Application Settings to split image ingest by number of images has been changed to split by number of takes.
-
Job results can be removed from HxMap Projects. Job results files (i.e. product generation outputs, blockwide radiometry overviews, mosaic seamlines, etc) are not deleted.
-
In previous releases lidar ingest required a license feature from HxMap Core Lidar module to run lidar filtering. HxMap 5.0 only requires HxMap Provider module for all steps of lidar ingest.
-
HxMap Linux has updated to Ubuntu 24.04.
-
HxMap 3D Advanced now supports CUDA compute capability 12.

Known Issues
-
HRQLSIIHA sensor in SPL100HA were previously defined with Unknown sensor type. Calibration files in existing calibration repository and in existing datasets should be updated with sensor type HRQLSIIHA before processing in HxMap 5.0.
-
CoastalMapper bathymetric lidar ingest is not compatible with checksum files created by HxMap Data Copy. Either remove the checksum (*.sha1) files or configure HxMap Data Copy without “Write Checksum” option.
-
Point cloud ground classification run on datasets ingested with waveform attributes will change the attribute values of individual points. Do not use ground classification on these datasets.
-
Reduce forward overlap feature in image Ingest is deprecated. The option is still shown in the Ingest wizard product settings for images, but is not applied.
-
CoastalMapper L0_THEIA_CALIBRATION ingest template does not work. Use Lidar Survey Studio for Theia calibration ingest and processing.
-
3DModel product generation does not support HxMap Elevation Source format as the surface reference for footprint intersection. Use GeoTIFF format DEM instead.
-
Project calibration from Triangulation for systems with RCD30 (SPL100, Chiroptera5, TerrainMapper, CityMapper) only includes the system calibration file. Copy the RCD30 geometry and radiometry calibration files along with lidar sensor calibration files from the session /cam folder to the project calibration before using for ingest.
