HxMap 4.7 Release Notes
Main features
TerrainMapper-3 sensor support full release
Oblique images are now fully supported in blockwide radiometry with regional radiometry editing and image display in the image index view
Create block now assigns Source ID attribute to each flight line in the block. The flight line’s flight plan is evaluated to identify re-flights in the block, allowing common heuristic like flight number plus 1000 to be applied, ensuring a unique Source ID for re-flights
3D Model creation with building footprints new option to enforce roof symmetry within a user defined cartographic tolerance
Windows 11 operating system supported
Main fixes
Radiometric normalization step of blockwide radiometry is optimized to reduce run time, especially for projects with oblique images
Flight line with significant lateral deviation could cause seamline generation failure in Mosaic. Seamline can now be generated but may require manual edit to close gaps with neighboring lines
DMCIII flight line with GPS week rollover can be ingested in a single session
Image adjustment histogram in Quality Control is correctly displayed for Image Viewer next / previous image navigation
Regional radiometry edit can be used when any strips are missing overviews from Radiometry Setup due to incomplete multiframe corrections.
DMCIII images can be locked for regional radiometry edit
Exclusion polygons are correctly applied for DMCIII aerial images
Vertex can be inserted on a roof splitting line in 3D Editor
Point cloud colorization artifact at edge of image frame causing thin band of no colors assigned
Point cloud filter and tiled product generation jobs with multiple sessions can be submitted to Cluster
Overview image display transitions to 1 to 1 images during zoom-in in Product Generation Map Window
Upgrade Notes
HxMap 4.7 requires a new version of the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime libraries, these are included with the HxMap installer prereqs (VC_redist.x64.exe). Be sure to apply the update to all workstations and Cluster nodes where HxMap is run before using HxMap 4.7.
HxMap Elevation Source (file extension .hexes) is replacing HxMap multi-DEM format (file extension .txt). HxMap 4.7 is backwards compatible for reading existing multi-DEM files in Product Generation, but only creates HxMap Elevation Source during DEM product generation.
HxMap 3D Advanced module GPU requirement for minimum CUDA compute capability has been updated from from 6.0 to 7.5 and minimum VRAM requirement of 8GB is added.
Decimation in point cloud product generation has been simplified to only require input of point density and decimation method. Check the user guide for more details on different decimation methods available.
Data format of L0_HYPERION_CALIBRATION ingest has been changed. It is necessary to ingest calibration data with HxMap 4.7 for input to lidar calibration tool.
Cluster job names have been standardized to aid consistent reporting and reduce job file name length.
Sessions, blocks and projects created in HxMap 4.7 are not compatible with earlier versions of HxMap. Data created from earlier versions of HxMap can be loaded and used in 4.7. In case you try to load a 4.7 dataset in HxMap 4.6 or earlier you will see a log message “Couldn't load Project: Access is denied.”
Aligned with the product life cycle, ALS80 and DMCIIe datasets can no longer be loaded or processed in HxMap 4.7
Known Issues
License checking over a VPN may take several minutes
Radiometry Setup with more than one overview type selected will prevent the user from displaying the Dark Pixel + Gradient overviews. Select only Dark Pixel + Gradient overview to display them for the Blockwide Radiometry workflow.
Cross section view in Lidar Viewer may not display all points when the section is first loaded. Depending on the graphics card and network storage speed, points may be displayed after zoom in / zoom out, or change of cross section orientation
Ground Points (.hexgp) imported as a Layer in the Workspace cannot be imported to Triangulation project. Ground points can be imported directly from text file into Ground Control editor in the Triangulation project editor.
Lidar calibration tool will only output lidar calibration files for CityMapper-1, TerrainMapper-1 and SPL100. Merge the lidar calibration files together with the current camera calibration files in a new version in the global repository for use during hybrid ingest.
HxMap Workspace with a Project saved in it cannot be loaded into Workflow Manager. The Workspace file may be edited to remove the Project entry, or the Workspace contents loaded individually.
